What's the best way to go about finding freelance or contracted photography work in Afghanistan?
— Asked by Anonymous
Like everywhere in the world, it’s increasingly more tough for photographers to find outlets to sell their photos. If you have the time and money, just come to Afghanistan, find a subject, shoot and then contact people afterwards. It’s usually a case of being in the right place at the right time. Two photographers doing well out here are David Gill - http://homepage.mac.com/shot2bits/soundcentrallive/ - and Ahmad Masood. The former has come up with his own ‘Kabul At Work’ (kabulatwork.tv) project, while the latter obviously speaks Dari, so is used a lot by Reuters & NYT. http://www.guardian.co.uk/artanddesign/gallery/2011/oct/04/photojournalist-ahmad-masood
